Color and Feeling

1. Color is consider powerful but unpredictable and difficult to control.  Artists find is necessary to handle color with caution.

2.  I am most fascinated by when creating large pieces of artwork such as walls of a chapel or church artists first applied plaster to the area which they are working on.  After the plaster was applied with drew in the stretch that they were creating and then the color was applied.  Artists were required to be meticulous because you could not just erase what was done and start over.  Once the art work was applied it was there permanently.  This is amazing to me because you do not realize the way that art was applied historically and that most if not all of the masterpieces in the world were created many years ago.

3.  The picture of the apostles in the color video is what impacted me the most, when looking at a piece of artwork you do not realize the different shades of color that are within it.  Specifically in artwork made in Venice the color red is most popular.  The piece with the apostles had many different shades of red in it.  I never realized how shades and certain colors are inspirational within artwork.

4.  The Medieval Era has always been interesting to me.  After watching this video it was interesting to see that many pieces of artwork are created by visiting and observing Medieval areas.  Also how one area such as a medieval hospital is a story within it self and influences many pieces of art.  In on building from many years ago is a story within itself and can help artists create thousands of different pieces of art based solely on one building.
